What is auto-enrolment?

Automatic enrolment was designed under the Pensions Act 2008, and requires every employer in the UK to put certain staff into a workplace pension scheme, and to contribute towards it.

Whichever field you are employing in, your automatic enrolment duties begin from the date you hire your first employee.

What you must do

Your duties as an employer will be different to others due to your particular circumstances. You need to work out if you need to provide a pension scheme or not.

The pensions regulator offers an online tool to help you work out your duties and only do what is relevant to you.
