On the 9th of October 2020, the Government announced an expansion of the Job Support Scheme, providing temporary support for businesses whose premises have had to close due to the restrictions of Coronavirus.
This will cover businesses that have had to close their premises completely or can only provide delivery or collection services from their premises.
Affected businesses will receive grants towards employees who have been instructed to stop working. The Government will pay 2/3 of their wages up to a maximum of £2,100 a month. Employers won’t be required to contribute towards wages but employer NI and pension contributions will need to be covered.
Even if you haven’t used the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, you can still apply for the JSS including the new expansion.
The Job Support Scheme is available for 6 months from the 1st of November, with payment of grants in arrears from early December.
The scheme will be reviewed in January.
